Who says you have to wait to get married before going on your honeymoon? I’d rather not wait.
I checked into the luxurious and extra private 5-star Viceroy Bali which is a favorite spot for honeymooners in Ubud, Bali during my last week in Indonesia. As a reviewer for Luxury and Boutique Hotels I have a chance to stay in some posh hotels and Viceroy Bali did not disappoint.
It was the perfect end to my visit on gorgeous island of Bali. While I knew Viceroy Bali would set the bar high in terms of a luxury resort, my expectations were blissfully blown out of the water. And speaking of water, I’d like to introduce you to my own private infinity pool at my Deluxe Terrace Villa.
While there were plenty of joyful couples sporting shiny new wedding bands, I didn’t feel out of place in the slightest. The team made me feel welcome and comfortable at all times as a solo guest. While Ubud was popular before Eat, Pray, Love hit the bookshelves, it’s easy to see that Bali is the perfect place for solo travelers – especially solo women. With a delightful selection of yoga studios, yummy cafes, and shops to peruse Bali and Ubud especially is a great place to hit the road on your own. Since there are so many other solo travelers, Ubud is the perfect hub to make new likeminded friends.
My villa was absolutely beautiful and it had everything a girl could ask for. Huge bed, big comfy couch with an assortment of books to enjoy, coffee/tea station, a grand bath tub, and a gorgeous view for the memory books. Since the villas are down the hill from the main area of the resort, the staff kindly provided pick up and drop off service upon arrival and departure. The main pool and other resort amenities such as the gym, guest library, were just a quick walk up the hill.
Viceroy Bali is a family owned business, which is reflected in how warmly guests are treated. The resort is situated in the unforgettable “Valley of the Kings“, which is a spot on description. Guests are provided a unique, private, and luxurious stay. There are 25 private pool villas, which means that even at capacity Viceroy Bali is never going to feel overcrowded. Fancy a massage or other spa treatment? The on-site Lembah Spa has a lovely menu of ways to unwind and relax.
Later in the evening there was a traditional Balinese Dance, which was a treat to enjoy during dinner. I invited a friend who came up from Ubud and we shared the perfect girls night out over a bottle of chilled white wine and a delicious meal. Although Viceroy Bali can feel exclusive at times due the the high luxury, I was happy to see that my friend was kindly greeted at the resort to join me. There’s plenty of other activities for guests to enjoy such as yoga, cycling, cooking classes, and tours to local attractions.
I was appreciative of how well-stocked the villa was. Plenty of bottled water was provided which is a must in Bali, as it’s best to refrain from drinking tap water. Turn down service was A+ with extra yummy truffles on the pillows in addition to an outdoor anti-mosquito coil being lit. Out of all the places I’ve stayed in so far, Viceroy Bali really felt like a daydream. There were moments I’d look out of my villa and have to pinch myself to make sure it was all real.
Retirees, newlyweds, solo travelers, and in between – Viceroy Bali is out of this world. And needless to say, this hotel seriously set the bar sky-high for my real honeymoon – whenever that is.
And speaking of out of this world. Let’s all take a final moment for this pool.
Honesty statement: I received a complementary 1-night Deluxe Terrace stay at Viceroy Bali as a reviewer for LuxuryandBoutiqueHotels.com. Please keep in mind that I always provide my honest options, no matter who is picking up the check.
